To connect and foster excellence among all Pasifika professionals and students

Our mission is to facilitate a network of professionals and students across a wide range of industries within the Pacific Islander community because we believe that by sharing stories of Pasifika Professional excellence, we empower all our people to navigate success.

The PPN community will:

  • Connect and elevate like-minded professional Pasifika people established within their career.

  • Support and develop emerging Pasifika talent through mentoring, advice, and connection to an industry of interest.

  • Provide advice and support for all Pasifika students as they progress through their studies and navigate their entrance into the professional workplace.

About the role 

The internship is required to primarily assist with running week to week social media, events set up and logistics - in particular for our upcoming mentoring program.

Things we need help with:

  • Social media content and maintenance 

  • Website content and maintenance 

  • Writing for our blog 

  • Video editing 

  • Assistance with planning, set up and execution of events 

  • Feedback surveys 

  • Other related administrative tasks

Time commitment:

1 day a week over a 3-month period. This can be in our office in Chippendale (5 min walk from Central station) or working remotely, however some tasks will require in-person attendance. During busy periods we may also require 2 days a week but this will be discussed in advance.

Please note this internship is unpaid, however we will provide a daily stipend to cover your travel, lunch and coffee costs. 

About you 

We’d love to hear from you if you can demonstrate the following:

  • A passion for Pasifika cultures and communities 

  • Familiarity with and understanding of the diversity of the Pacific Islands 

  • A great attitude, curiosity, and willingness to learn 

  • Excellent knowledge of social media platforms 

  • Completed or currently undertaking a Bachelor’s degree 

Application process

Answer the following question and then pick 1 task to complete. Please send your response and task to info@pacificpn.com by 5 February 2023. 

Question: Why is greater Pasifika representation in Australian universities and corporate spaces important to you? (250 words max or if you’d prefer to create a video response, please limit it to 1 min)

Task: 

1. Prepare a social media post you would create to promote our next event – ‘Networking Drinks and Fireside chat with keynote speaker’. Be mindful of our existing design scheme and colours. 

OR

2. We are planning to start a new monthly post to highlight our new members: e.g. ‘Get to know PPN’s newest member - Nick Mahalo’’. Create a post (format up to you) that you think will best capture some quick facts and a photo of the new member.

We will review submissions and contact all candidates by 12 February 2023 to advise you of next steps. We will provide feedback on all applications whether successful or not to help you with your future job applications!
